The Ford Escort Mk2 RS1800 is more than a car — it’s a motorsport icon that defined an era. Built between 1975 and 1977, this rally weapon was Ford’s answer to the growing competition of the World Rally Championship, and it delivered results that still echo through automotive history.

Under the bonnet sat the legendary 1.8-litre Cosworth BDA engine — a high-revving, twin-cam masterpiece producing around 115–120 bhp in road form, and capable of over 250 bhp in full Group 4 rally spec. Combined with a lightweight shell, razor-sharp handling, and a perfectly balanced rear-wheel-drive setup, it became a driver’s dream — agile, responsive, and utterly addictive.

Only around 100–110 genuine RS1800s were ever built, making it one of the rarest performance Escorts Ford ever produced. Most lived their lives on the stages, piloted by legends such as Ari Vatanen, Hannu Mikkola, and Björn Waldegård — helping Ford secure the 1979 World Rally Championship Manufacturers’ Title.

The RS1800 wasn’t about luxury — it was about control, connection, and competition. The bark of the BDA, the feel of the gearbox, and the way it danced on gravel made it a true driver’s car — one that continues to inspire enthusiasts and builders to this day.

Our Petrolhead Style RS1800 Collection celebrates this legend with apparel and accessories that capture the raw energy, iconic stance, and rally heritage of the Mk2 Escort RS1800. Whether you grew up hearing its soundtrack or you’re just discovering it now, this collection pays tribute to one of Ford’s most glorious creations.
